Jaguar Land Rover Opens New Factory in Brazil

Jaguar Land Rover opened its new manufacturing facility in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Located in Itatiaia, it is the company’s first wholly-owned facility overseas and is part of its global expansion strategy. Prior to this, Jaguar Land Rover opened its Chinese joint venture factory in 2014.

The new factory is designed to build Range Rover Evoque and Land Discovery Sport and can produce 24,000 units yearly. Rover vehicles will be available in dealers across Brazil this month.

“Land Rover is already Brazil’s market-leader for mid-sized premium sports utility vehicles. The Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport will now be manufactured for the first time in Latin America, building on their existing popularity with customers in Brazil,” says Wolfgang Stadler, executive director for manufacturing.

The facility also contains the company’s first overseas Education Business Partnership Centre, which aims to develop skills and people who wish to pursue a fruitful career at Jaguar Land Rover.
